90 Stundents at Spartanburg High School Earn AP Scholar Awards


Spartanburg County Schools have a lot to smile about after a number of students have earned top awards.

The designation of State AP Scholar is granted to the one male and one female student in each U.S. state and the District of Columbia. Philip Chambers qualified for a State AP Scholar Award. Local AP Scholars include: Ben Chalmers, Philip Chambers, Laura Haselden, Sam Mercer, Aristotelis Nayfa, Sarah Parker, Sydney Shea, David Stevens, Susan Todd, Sarah Watson, and William Wilkins.

Thirty-four students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and score of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are: Adam Bunn, Andrew Burrell, Ben Chalmers, Philip Chambers, Taylor Chavez, Caroline Cope, Emily Griffin, Katherine Huey, Sarah Harakas, Laura Haselden, Alex Hickerson, Z'Corrian Jeter, Sam Mercer, Drew Middlebrooks, Melissa Moss, Aristotelis Nayfa, David Newton, Tanner Oldham, Sarah Parker, Sagar Patel, Nanne Remington, Joseph Rutherford, Jonathan Schwarz, Sydney Shea, Alex Stevens, David Stevens, Susan Todd, Mary Caroline Verticchio, Caroline Vetter, Peyton Veytia, Linda Vilaivanh, Sarah Watson, Helen Wessinger, and William Wilkins.

Twelve students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are: Hannah Cash, Alden Earl, Ronnie Funk, Watson Gowdy, Mary Collins Halligan, Julia Huff, David Ingraham, Emily Mattison, Elise Mercer, Joel Miller, Chrissy Oberg, and Christen Williams.

Forty-four students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams, with scores of 3 or higher. The AP scholars are: Mary Frances Babrowicz, Will Bagwell, Kera Belcher, Ben Bramhall, Brandon E Brown, Rebecca Brown, Becky Bungarz, David Burnett, Sabine Connors, David Dennis, Laura Dennis, Sarah Disario, Olivia Dunn, Amanda England, Ruth Evans, Steven Fernandes, Shomik Gibson, Mark Goodman, Anna Hall, Sydney Hammond, Stephen Harris, Arthur Hellyer, David Jennings, Grace Lancaster, Micah Lybrand, Sally Gray, Mahon, Grace Martin, Maulana Moore, Charles Neidenbach, Dakota Parker, Hannah Parker, Grishma Patel, Anna Paul, Joseph Pennebaker, Ellen Richardson, Matthew Scoggins, Keisler Smith, Charlotte Taylor, Leiding Taylor, Harrison Valainis, Patricia Walpole, Hannah Welborn, and Jonathan Williams.
