Everyone is invited to join the fun! Four hundred Pine Street School students, parents, and community members will run a five kilometer US Track & Field-certified race through Converse Heights, the neighborhood surrounding the school, on Saturday, March 9.
The race begins at 9:00 am and starts and ends in front of Pine Street School, located at 500 South Pine Street, Spartanburg. Vic Bailey Subaru will lead runners with a Subaru pace car.
A one-mile fun run will begin at 10:00 am. Students participating in the Fun Run will race from the school to the end of Boyd Street and back.
This year marks the sixth anniversary of Pine Street Elementary School’s 5K and Fun Run. The race has become one of Spartanburg’s largest 5K races and is always a great time!
This event raises funds for the school, and it is a day for the Pine Street School Community to come together for a competitive, fun, and healthy morning of activity. Funds raised help to supplement the Pine Street School PTO’s efforts to engage and enrich the student experience at the school. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors, the PTO is able to provide students with enrichment opportunities such as specialized grade-level studies, Artist in Residence Week, and Accelerated Reader programming.
“Everyone at Pine Street School is so thankful for the hard work of our awesome parent volunteers as well as the huge amount of community support for our annual 5K Race and Fun Run,” says Pine Street School Principal Dennis Regnier. “Many of our faculty and staff enjoy participating in the event each year because it is a great way to stay healthy, as well as spend time with our students and families in a such an exciting atmosphere. I look forward to this day each year as a way to make new connections and strengthen the bonds that make PSS so much like family.”
