Ignite Dance Competition doors open at 7am. Event starts at 8am.

On exhibit Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 4 p.m., Rocky Cove Railroad is a G-Scale (garden scale) model train that demonstrates the coming of trains to western North Carolina at the turn of the 20th century. The exhibit is located below the Grand Promenade. Please note, Rocky Cove Railroad will not operate in rainy or wet conditions.

Are you looking for an excuse to knit or crochet for a good cause? Help make baby hats and blankets and adult hats, scarves, and slippers to support at-risk newborns and homeless adults.  Your handmade knitwear will keep our neighbors warm.  Volunteers with basic skills in knitting or crocheting are welcome. Please bring your own needles or crochet hooks and a pattern.

Get ready for a spelling showdown like no other! “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is a hilarious, heartwarming, and wildly entertaining musical where quirky kids battle it out to be crowned champion of the county spelling bee. With unforgettable characters, it explores the pressures, vulnerabilities, and triumphs of growing up. Filled with catchy tunes and plenty of laughs, this fast-paced comedy will have you cheering and cringing all the way to the final word.

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, plays the Kansas City Mavericks at the Bon Secours Wellness Area. Puck drops at 3:05pm.

Sundays Unplugged

All of the museums are open, live music and artists on the plaza… Stop by!

At the beginning of the year, Chapman extended its hours to include Sundays 1-5 p.m. to better accommodate patrons’ schedules. Within a few weeks, all museums and galleries were open on Sundays. To add value to the experience, local musicians were brought in to perform free mini-concerts 2-4 p.m. This Sunday, Brandon Skipper will entertain with his adult alternative stylings from 2-4 p.m.

In addition to free music, patrons can enjoy Sunday Art Market, a bazaar of locally handmade artwork. As always, Artists’ Guild Gallery, Spartanburg Art Museum, and Spartanburg Regional History Museum are free, and Spartanburg Science Center is open for a small fee. There are affordable cultural activities and entertainment available for all ages and tastes.

The latest addition to Sundays Unplugged–Sunday Art Market–provides vending opportunities to local artists in order to “encourage a culturally vibrant community.” The market will be open on Sundays year-round. All items for purchase are handmade and come from a wide array of mediums. All sales are received wholly by the artists.

Any local artist interested in participating must pay $10 per twelve-month period and complete the application. Find the form online or ask for one upon arrival. Only individuals or non-profit artist groups are eligible. Ten-foot by 10-foot spaces are allotted on a first-come-first-serve basis, but artists must provide their own tables, chairs, tents, etc. and be able to set up without staff assistance. Items for sale have to be local and original.

In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920’s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken with English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. Musical numbers include “Willkommen,” “Cabaret,” “Don’t Tell Mama” and “Two Ladies.”

In this class, experienced teacher and former director John Murphy will guide you through the fundamentals of vegetable gardening. You’ll discover the best practices for soil preparation, seed selection, planting, and maintaining a thriving garden. This class will provide you with the knowledge and confidence to grow your own fresh and healthy vegetables.

One of the most beloved chamber music works for strings and piano, Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet not only demonstrates his genius for melody and lyricism, but also features a distinct combination of instruments: only one violin and the addition of double bass. The robust sound of the lowest of the strings can also be heard in Mozart’s Adagio and Fugue, a piece that deepens the string quartet’s tonal range. Original instrumentation is also attributed to Mozart’s set of piano quartets, the first music written for this combination, which inspired future generations of composers. CMS Co-Artistic Director Wu Han is one of the featured performers.

Spring can be a time where life starts to suddenly speed up as the winter chill melts away.  Take some time for a guided mindful walk through the garden with short therapeutic horticulture activities incorporated throughout the walk.  This class is great for anyone needing to take time to slow down, anyone curious about what therapeutic horticulture actually is, or anyone wishing to get to know Bullington Gardens better.
