Young Accordionist Vince Demor in Free Public Mini-Concert on November 2nd

Chapman Center’s weekly Sundays Unplugged program allows patrons to enjoy free concerts of local musicians, 2-4 p.m., and free admission to most museums and gallery spaces, 1-5 p.m., every Sunday afternoon.

It’s a family-friendly way to end the weekend with casual, cultural entertainment.

Irma Vep is a sidesplitting gothic spoof complete with werewolves, vampires, and damsels in distress. Watch two actors take on multiple roles on Chapman Cultural Center’s stage at 3 p.m. When Lord Edgar Hillcrest and his new wife Lady Enid embark on a journey to find out what happened to Irma Vep, they are taken from their estate in England, all the way to Egypt with enough plot twists and costume changes to give you whiplash. Tickets are $25 per adult, $24 per senior, and $17 per student.

Vince Demor, a Spartanburg resident and teenage accordionist, will perform during Sundays Unplugged as the featured singer-songwriter, 2-4 p.m. Demor’s musical education began at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh at the age of 3. Until 9 years old, he studied cello and piano. His accordion lessons did not begin until age 7, and he debuted as an accordionist at the Bulgarian Folk Festival in Pittsburgh. In 2009, Demor moved to Spartanburg to reside with his mother and sister and continued studying the cello at Converse College. Additionally, he played the cello for three years at both Dorman High School and for the Carolina Youth Symphony Orchestra at Furman University. Though achieving high accolades as a cellist, he decided to focus solely on the accordion several years ago. Patrons may hear Demor playing anything from classical tunes to modern pop.

Weekly singer-songwriter concerts are complemented by free admission to most museums and gallery spaces, 1-5 p.m. Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg, Spartanburg Art Museum, Spartanburg Regional History Museum, and the Student Galleries are free, and Spartanburg Science Center is open for a small fee.
