“We are excited about moving forward with plans for our new facility in Greenville County. South Carolina offers us an excellent business climate and a close proximity to customers, as well as a talented workforce. We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said Martin Kean, vice president of Carolina Technical Plastics Corporation and South Carolina Plastics LLC.

South Carolina Plastics LLC is a subsidiary of Carolina Technical Plastics, a part of the Wirthwein AG Group with headquarters in Creglingen, Germany. The company will establish a new manufacturing operation at 800 Woodside Avenue in Fountain Inn, subject to successful completion of due diligence activities and acquisition of the Greenville County site. The Greenville Area Development Corporation, the county’s economic development arm, assisted the company in its new facility search.

The company creates complex automotive components such as door modules, door handles, cable drum housings and covers for seat belts, among other components for the automotive industry as well as the Home Appliance, Medical and Rail industries. The new facility is expected to be operational by February 2013.

“It’s a great day in South Carolina when another new company chooses to put down roots here. We celebrate South Carolina Plastics LLC’s decision to invest $12 million and create 119 new jobs in Greenville. We are working every day to help bring more job-creating investments to South Carolina,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.

Since January 2011, South Carolina has recruited more than $4.4 billion in capital investment and more than 6,800 jobs in the automotive-related sector.

“South Carolina Plastics LLC’s decision to locate its new production facility here in Greenville County is welcome news,” noted H.G. “Butch” Kirven, a director of the Greenville Area Development Corporation and chairman of Greenville County Council. “Their decision to locate here affirms that this area’s burgeoning advanced manufacturing cluster continues to grow and thrive, and should serve as a magnet for more suppliers, more talented individuals and more good paying jobs for our community.”

The company will begin hiring for the new positions in the coming months. Anyone interested in job opportunities with the company should contact Robin Gibson at 252-634-2871 ext. 236 or at [email protected].
