Individual Artist Fellowship Applications Due November 1st

South Carolina artists working in visual arts, craft, music composition and music performance may apply for a 2015-2016 Individual Artist Fellowship Award from the South Carolina Arts Commission.

Up to four fellowships of $5,000 will be awarded. The deadline to apply is Nov. 1. Applications and guidelines are available at www.SouthCarolinaArts.com.

Past fellows agree that fellowships offer endorsements that may open doors to other resources and employment opportunities. “The recognition at the statewide level was prestigious,” said Jim Arendt of Conway, the 2013-2014 visual arts fellow. “The Fellowship also gave me the financial flexibility to submit my work and receive honors at several international shows.”

The Arts Commission’s Individual Artist Fellowship program encourages the pursuit of artistic excellence and provides financial support to South Carolina artists of merit. Since 1976, the Arts Commission has awarded more than 200 fellowships to actors, craftsmen, poets, screenwriters, visual artists, musicians and others in recognition of exemplary artistic talent. Fellowship awards have no restriction on use of funds.

Fellows are recommended by out-of-state review panelists, who make selections based solely on a review of anonymous work samples. These recommendations are approved by the Arts Commission Board. For more information, visit www.SouthCarolinaArts.com or call (803) 734-8696.
