Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System opens a second Immediate Care Center. The doors have opened to a new way for Westside residents to meet their routine and urgent healthcare needs.
Immediate Care Center – Westside is an innovative facility designed to blend the best elements of a traditional doctor’s office with all the convenience of an acute care clinic. This means easy access to a consistent staff of three physicians who provide scheduled primary care as well as walk-in services for unexpected illness and injuries.
“Most of us prefer seeing a healthcare provider we know. We appreciate the benefits of an established patient-doctor relationship. But life is hectic – accidents happen – so sometimes we need the flexibility of a walk-in facility,” said Sara Beth Hammond, Vice President of Operations at Medical Group of the Carolinas. “With the opening of this new Immediate Care Center, people on the Westside can access the best of both models under one roof.”
As part of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS), the Immediate Care Center is dedicated to convenient, cost-effective care – with an extra dose of compassion. The well-trained staff provides annual physicals, sports physicals, immunizations and other routine procedures for patients of all ages; they also treat acute needs such as sprains, fractures, lacerations, eye injuries, burns and animal bites as well as ear infections, sore throats, colds/flu and other ailments. Patients can request appointments with a specific doctor; they also have the option of designating one of the doctors as their primary care physician.
With an emphasis on wellness and prevention, Immediate Care Center – Westside also anticipates hosting interactive community education sessions on topics ranging from nutrition to diabetes.
Located in the former Piccadilly Cafeteria at 151 Peachwood Centre Drive, Immediate Care Center-Westside features 9,000 square feet of space comprising nine exam rooms and a community education room. It is open seven days a week. Walk-in hours for acute and urgent care are Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; primary care hours are Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
Immediate Care Center – Westside is SRHS’s second facility to offer this type of healthcare experience. Immediate Care Center – Eastside opened in 2013 near Fresh Market on East Main Street.
