Fingerpicking Style Guitarist Rohn Jewell Performs on October 5

Chapman Cultural Center is Spartanburg’s premier location for casual and cultural entertainment on Sunday afternoons.

During the Center’s Sundays Unplugged program, patrons can enjoy free admission to the history museum and art galleries, 1-5 p.m., and a free mini-concert by a regional musician, 2-4 p.m, every Sunday. It’s a great way to “unplug” with experiences in music, art, history, and science with the whole family.

Rohn Jewell, a fingerpicking style acoustic rocker, will be the featured singer-songwriter this Sunday, Oct. 5. Jewell moved to South Carolina from his home state of Florida in 1991 to assist with the local family business — Jewell’s Small Engine and Repair. Upon his father’s passing, he rooted himself permanently in the Upstate and began playing the music scene. Not only did he perform at many venues, he also taught his craft. His students provided much needed motivation in urging Jewell to share his original compositions, music he describes as “dark and melodic” with many stories to tell. He employs a fingerstyle picking technique to produce mesmerizing acoustic rock and instrumentals with alternate tunings.

In addition to the concert, patrons can enjoy free admission to Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg Gallery, Spartanburg Art Museum, Spartanburg Regional History Museum, and the Student Galleries. Spartanburg Science Center is open with a small fee.
