Children Offer Ideas for New C.C. Woodson Playground

A new playground to be constructed at the C.C. Woodson Community Center got some fresh ideas from a group of neighborhood children during a community visioning event.

The children offered ideas for park rules and features, and were asked to choose a color scheme and a set of spring rides for the playground, which is to be constructed by volunteers over the course of a single day, November 21. The playground is being built through an agreement with the City, Select Health of South Carolina, AmeriHealth Caritas Partnership, the Marcus Lattimore Foundation.

Under terms of the agreement, the City will be responsible for all site preparation and construction of paths and a retaining wall, at an estimated cost of $25,000. Select Health will purchase and install the new playground equipment, with an estimated cost of between $60,000 and $80,000. Check out the vdeo below to learn more.
