2015 Grassroots Leadership Development Institute Applications Being Accepted

The Spartanburg County Foundation is currently recruiting for the 2015 Grassroots Leadership Development Institute.

The Institute is seeking 28 dedicated individuals, deeply rooted in their communities, to go through an intensive leadership development experience that promises to be both educational and exciting.

Each year, individuals are selected to participate in the seven-month leadership training program, which is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skill-set, and resources to be effective in leading change at the grassroots level. Participants meet one Saturday a month, March – August with a graduation ceremony in September, to increase their ability to make a positive difference in their neighborhoods and in the greater Spartanburg community. Topics such as developing leadership and organization skills, strengthening communication, leveraging community assets, and thinking strategically will be addressed.

For the past eight years, the City of Spartanburg has joined the Foundation as a sponsor by sending several of the City’s local neighborhood leaders through the Institute, thereby increasing their ability to bring about significant change in their neighborhoods. With over 250 alumni and graduates serving in various leadership roles, the impact of the Institute is felt throughout Spartanburg County.

This year the application process will take place online. The deadline to apply or nominate someone for the Institute session is Friday, October 17, 2014. For more information regarding the Institute, or to access the application for the 2015 Session, please visit www.spcf.org.
