Join Garden educators Sue Watts and Patricia Whitener to explore the properties and power of water. Investigate the ponds and streams in the Garden and take a field trip to learn more about fish and fishing in the area. Children will receive a T-shirt and certification as a Junior Master Naturalist by participating in five of the six sessions and completing a service project. A permission form is required for each participant. The City of Greenville Parks and Recreation is registering for the 2013 SEMESTER 2 After-school Study Buddies Program at the following Community Centers: Bobby Pearse Community Center, David Hellams Community Center, Nicholtown Community Center, West Greenville Community Center. All students currently enrolled must register for SEMESTER 2. The program is open to students in 5K to 8th grade and will include homework assistance, tutoring, life skills development, recreational activities, snacks/meals and much more. The fee will be $ 54.00 for SEMESTER 2 - Jan. 2nd – June 6th with city residents getting a 20% discount. There will also discounts for families registering 2 or more kids. We are offering this 10 week Piano program on Monday evenings. The classes are 30 minutes each week and provide one-on-one piano instruction with each participant. There is a piano recital with all participants at the end of the 10-week program. Lyrical dance is often referred to as contemporary dance. It requires excellent techniques to perform, as the moves are often difficult and precise. Creative Movement II is a combination of tap and ballet with higher dance techniques than level I. All dancers must have completed level I or have had previous dance experience to enroll in level II. Classes are available for students 18 months to 2 years old. The main focus of combination classes is on students having fun and enjoying dance as an everyday activity. During Red Cross Month, learn about Clara Barton and the limitations of mid-19th century medicine. Homeschool Thursdays now available for middle and high school students! The Thursday before every Homeschool Friday features an afternoon class designed for middle and high school students from 1:30 – 3:30 PM. These programs will feature more in depth study and discussion. Seats are $5.00 for students and teachers. Reservations required. All students must be accompanied by an adult.
